I wanted to share one of my quick digital sketches of a few of the garments from my MA collection: “Buggin’ Out”I’ve designed all of the prints and patterns by hand, engineering them onto the pattern pieces to be printed digitally. First round of fabric is all printed up, just need to get the sewing machine to work now!
Any feed back would be sweet and appreciated =)

Samples!

Here are some quick snaps of some test samples for my final project. A few textures and prints, and the stripey one is actually a pattern for a pleated skirt. Yay, progress is good.

19th Century Dresses from France and England.

I’ve been exploring the impact of the Industrial Revolution of the 18th and 19th century on the world of fashion, especially women’s printed fashion textiles. With the invention of the Spinning Jenny, the Sewing Machine, the Cotton Gin the Industrial Revolution made possible all modern clothing design. The discovery of synthetic dyes and advancements in textile printing technology created endless possibilities for innovation in print imagery design and execution. Combining print methods with new vibrant colors like mauve and turquoise resulted in exciting new geometric forms and color combinations on women’s fashion garments.

Whilst hunting around for my own look book/photo-shoot inspiration I keep stumbling on Charlotte Free. She may be my new girl crush. Maybe it’s her amazing legs, or her growing out pink hair, either way! love her in the AW’12 campaign for COMPLOT. The styling is cool and her body movement/positioning brings some life to the clothing.
